FIL Update #3

He is still in the surgical ICU, but they stopped his sedation drugs. It could take up to a week for him to wake up, though.

He's looking better, and the fluid is clearing out of his lungs. Slowly they are removing machines and lines from him, although he's still on TPN (food goes directly into his stomach). After he wakes the doctors will be able to better evaluate if he had any brain damage and then on to his intestines. His kidney function is great, though.

I can see he's starting to wake up - his eyes move like he's dreaming.

He's at the VA hospital. When you walk in, there is a plaque on the wall that says:

The price of freedom is visible here.


So true.
